Easter is a Christian celebration of Jesus Christ’s rising from the dead (His Resurrection) after his crucifixion which took place on what we now term Good Friday. Easter is celebrated on the Sunday following the first full moon after the vernal equinox. Easter can occur on any date between March 23rd and April 26th and is closely related to the timing of the Spring Equinox. The actual date is set as the first Sunday after the first full moon that occurs after March 21, one of the first days of spring.

Originally Easter was celebrated at the same time as Jews celebrated Passover, the 14th day of the month of Nisan. Eventually this was moved to Sundays, which had become the Christian sabbath. For the year 2011, April 24 is the day for Easter. In this post I have posted beautifully crafted Easter eggs.

It takes a long time, talent and patience to paint these eggs. The bright colors and patterns that transform these eggs are a genuine works of art done by hand. There are many ways to accomplish the task of Easter eggs decoration. Some people empty the egg content by making a small hole and covered the hole with a thin layer of bee wax. People usually do a pencil sketch first and dip in the color. Using special tools they start crafting the egg and dipping in the color solution number of times to give different shades of the color in the eggs.
How Easter Got its name
The English name “Easter” is much newer. Before Christianity in early England, people celebrated the vernal equinox with a feast honoring Eostre, the Pagan goddess of spring. When the early English Christians wanted others to accept Christianity, they decided to use the name Easter for this holiday so that it would match the name of the old spring celebration. This made it more comfortable for other people to accept Christianity. Some believed that the word Easter came from an early German word “eostarun”, meaning dawn and white. Newly baptized Christians wore white clothes as a sign of their new life on Easter.

And here is Easter again! I love Easter, since in these weeks I get to think about everything from another perspective. And despite of the fact that the spirit of celebrating won’t remain in my heart as if should have, it teaches me every time something important and valuable. Happy holidays everyone!
I believe that from time to time we should take a break from the activities of our life and think about the true significance of Easter. If so, we should all reach the level where we get the spiritual joy of this holiday, but also the significance for the human kind. Without this, Easter simply doesn’t has the same aspect anymore…
Easter is a moment of presents for my kids, great meal for my husband and the joy of being together for me. And even if the members of the family seem to be glad for something else, the main thing is the same: we are happy that we are together surrounded by love and respect! And this is all that matters!
