In recent years, Leaf carving has emerged as an art. Although the origin of this art is little controversial, it is widely practiced in Tibet, Nepal, China and other countries. The art making process is quite lengthy one. Artist use selective leaves which are not damaged and carry out the whole process in four basic steps. They are drying, curing, shaving and pressing the leaves. Actually, the professional artist put these selected leaves through 60 steps to give the final output. That’s a lot of work. Um!!!
Check out some of the beautifully carved leaves in this post and i will also reveal how they achieve this result at the end of the post.
Here is the trick: The outer surface of the leaf is carefully removed without cutting or removing the leaf’s veins which add detail into the subject matter of the carving. The carving is performed by artists using tools. The chinar tree leaves, which is native to India, Pakistan, Nepal and China is the luckiest tree. Its leaves have a close resemblance to maple leaves. They have beautiful, uniformly distributed and meshy veins. And they are suitable to be carved. Check out some of the pictures that got transferred into the leaf below.
Don’t you people think that leaf carving art gives the fallen leaf another life and make the leaf show the amazing beauty of its veins, profile and structure in another way. I was stunned by these amazing artwork. Hope you people enjoyed it too.
